A Herd of Words: Absurd
A Herd of Words grew out of my dissertation on frivolity and rebellion:
a deep dive into the Kantian idea of the purposefulness of purposelessness,
and the power of wandering into imagination without following the rules.
Which is a fancy way of saying:
sometimes nonsense tells the truth sideways.
Every now and then, one of these creatures wanders out of my notes
and into the Spark Cabinet.
Here’s today’s escapee.

Leigh Melander, PhD is a story weaver, a ridiculous revolutionary, and an inveterate meanderer. Why go straight ahead when there are always delightful side paths to explore? Leigh is most excited about helping people to look deep into mythos and imagination to bring their most beloved wild ideas to life. She works with individuals and organizations as they invent new ways to make the world splendid. She is lucky to have an extraordinary launching pad, a Catskills retreat center on an historic estate, called Spillian: A Place to Revel. Spillian offers events to mark moments of deep imagination and celebration in people’s lives, and is, incidentally, is one of Leigh’s big wild ideas. As is SpillianQuest!
